Phir Hera Pheri is a Bollywood movie about three desperate, female friends who set out to find the perfect husband by creating their own marriage advertisement. Despite being elusive in victory, their new found confidence for life will make you laugh until it hurts. Phir Hera Pheri is an eye-opening comedy with terrific performances from actors like Shahrukh Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh. It is definitely worth the watch! The film was directed by Indra Kumar, who also wrote the screenplay with his wife Anu Menon. Phir Hera Pheri released on December 18th 2002 in India and has since become a favorite amongst Hindi movie enthusiasts around the world. The movie had its U. S. premiere the following year on May 3rd 2003 at the Little India Film Festival in Manhattan. Phir Hera Pheri has been remade numerous times, most notably in Tamil as Vaanathai Pola and in Telugu as Chala Bagundi. The story of three girls who are set out to find their own Mr. Right. The trio of Gudiya (Kareena Kapoor), Laxmi (Bipasha Basu) and Popti (Rimi Sen) decide to create their own marriage advertisement when they fail to attract any immediate responses from men. They hire Nagarkoti (Shah Rukh Khan), a conman, to pose as their potential husband and capture the attention of several men. However, one of the men gets a hold of a photo of Nagarkoti and discovers his true identity. The girls refuse to admit their deception and claim Nagarkoti is in fact their real husband. Devdhar (Ritesh Deshmukh), one of the men, decides to team up with Nagarkoti to defeat them in court so he can get his hands on some money. But when Devdhar's affections for Gudiya grow stronger than her money, he becomes torn between helping fulfill her needs or helping himself get what he wants. The three friends continue to market Nagarkoti to potential suitors, all the while finding that life can be a lot more complicated than they know. Closer to home, Nagarkoti begins to study the girls' weaknesses and begins exploiting them for his own gain. For instance, when Gudiya visits her family for Diwali, he convinces Gudiya's parents that he is her husband. This time, Devdhar isn't willing to let Nagarkoti get away with it and follows them back to Mumbai. When Devdhar confronts Gudiya in front of her family, she loses her temper and decides to take matters into her own hands . Nagarkoti soon reveals his true intentions to Gudiya, but is unable to follow through because Devdhar rushes in to save her. The two men fight it out, which ends in Nagarkoti's death.
