The movie starts off with Chandu (Devgan) and Dhanraj (Shahrukh Khan) is sent to spy on Don Kabir's Sandor, a low-level mobster who controls the drug trade. He is also an aspiring politician who is rising through the ranks in politics. While undercover, he falls in love with Indrani (Kareena Kapoor), Don Kabir's maid and falls in love with her. He leaves a message for her where he promises to come back to her. Chandu starts investigating Don Kabir and comes across a few facts about his illegal activities. He also finds out that the politician has been buying votes from people of his community along with drugs from Sandor's gang, which is against the law. He sends a message to police commissioner Daya Nayak (Sanjay Dutt) that he will leave the mission as Don Kabir is innocent and does not have anything against him. The commissioner tells him not to make any mistakes as they have only one case against Don Kabir and it can take many years of investigation to bring him down legally. But Chandu has made up his mind and is ready to get married to Indrani. When Chandu is about to get married to Indrani, Don Kabir's son, David (Sonu Sood) comes back from London. He had gone away for the past ten years after the death of his mother Susan in a car crash in which he was in the driver's seat. David sees his father with Indrani and assumes that she is having an affair with him behind his back. He also finds out that she is pregnant with Chandu's child. Chandu leaves the police commissioner's house for his honeymoon. Chandu's wife to face charges of smuggling drugs. Now, Chandu is made to return to work and investigate Indrani who is now Don Kabir's mistress. Chandu keeps on running into trouble because of Don Kabir.
